APPLICATION OF THE WORD—THE ONE ANOTHERS #3

A. Speak Truthfully to One Another—Eph 4:25 
1. Falsehoods, lies, and deceit destroy fellowship—if you have lied, repent and confess your sin to God and the person 
2. Speak the Truth in love—Eph 4:13–truth spoken with wisdom in an appropriate manner 

B. Be Kind to One Another—Eph 4:32 
1. Kindness—means “morally good,” “pleasant,” “useful,” “benevolent.” The word is used in Rom 2:4 to describe God’s attitude toward us 
2. Kindness is an attitude demonstrated in our actions 

C. Forgive One Another—Col 3:13 
1. Forgiveness is not about feelings, it is about obedience. To not forgive someone is a sin, forgiveness is a command from the Lord—Luke 17:1-10 
2. Overlooking sin, excusing sin, or accepting apologies is not the same as granting forgiveness. 
3. We must have a heart of love that is willing to forgive even if the other person doesn’t want or ask for forgiveness. We do our part—Luke 6:27-28 
4. Granting forgiveness means: we will not hold the matter against them, or bring the matter up again either to the person or to another person, or even to ourselves 
5. Sin still has consequences; reconciliation and restored trust take me. 

D. Bear With One Another—Col 3:13 
1. We have loving patience with one another’s imperfections, idiosyncrasies, and personal values 
2. Impatience, annoyance, and anger can result when we do not bear with one another in love 
3. Being argumentative, disagreeable, and unloving are not personality traits, but rather are sin. 

E. Admonish One Another—Col 3:16 
1. Admonish—“warn,” “counsel,” and “instruct.” Used with teaching with the intent of correction for another person using the Scriptures with an attitude of humility

A. Instruct One Another—Romans 15:14 
1. Desire to instruct (formally or informally) another believer should be motivated by love for God and the other person 
2. We help people to know what is right according to God’s word in the different situations of their life 

B. Do Not Sue One Another—1 Cor 6:7 
1. Lawsuits in the Church are individualism and pride run amok
2. Believers should never take one another to civil court to hash out disagreements. They should have attitudes of sacrificial love, forgiveness, and kindness
3. Best way is to go through church leadership to resolve an impasse. In the end as believers it is better to take a loss out of love than to disparage the reputation of Christ

C. Care for One Another—1 Cor 12:25
1. Paul uses the illustration of the human body to show that we should care for each member of the body of Christ equally.
2. Caring for one another demonstrates love and preserves unity in the Church
3. Caring is not just an emotion, but is demonstrated in one’s actions

D. Do Not Provoke and Do Not Envy One Another—Gal 5:26
1. Provoking one another is exercising your liberty in Christ without regard for those who may be uninformed or struggling with sin.
2. We must care about others more than our personal rights
3. Envy is when a young believer wishes they didn’t still struggle with conscience issues and can live more freely

E. Bear One Another’s Burdens—Gal 6:2 
1. Help other believers that are going through difficult trials by assisting them to carry their burdens.
2. Do they need help with meals, cleaning, finances, ect... Do they need encouragement that comes from fellowship

A. Love One Another With Brotherly Affection—Romans 12:10a
1. The command is to treat every family member as you would treat a family member—Tender care, affection, & concern
2. It is your Forever Family, do you love them as you should?

B. Outdo One Another In Showing Honour—Romans 12:10b
1. Command to Honour—to give special weight or value to something
2. To “outdo” is to give others praise and consideration above what we would receive from them
3. Do you make an effort to listen to others and hear what they say? Do you talk well about them among others? 

C. Live In Harmony With One Another—Romans 12:16
1. Having the same mind—we each hold each other in high regard regardless of differences in status or in personality.
2. The barrier to this command is personal pride—we think more highly of ourselves than we ought
3. Are you agreeable with others as a rule or are you disagreeable and like to argue? Divisiveness is evidence of pride. 

D. Do Not Judge One Another—Romans 14:13 & 14:19
1. This commands entails that one must be careful in thinking someone else is unspiritual, especially on an issue that is not clearly defined in Scripture
2. There must be an active deliberate approach to building others up, not doing this is indirectly tearing them down
3. Are you guilty of judging others based on externals and preferences—Matt 7:1-5 

E. Welcome One Another—Romans 15:7
1. Believers are to welcome one another in a genuine, heartfelt manner, “just as Christ also accepted us”
2. This command tells believers to accept people that are different and care for them by getting to know them
3. Do you only talk to people that are like you?
