Honesty is the Best Policy
James 5:12

God cares about the truthfulness of our hearts. He wants us to be consistent in what we do, and say.
James commands the believers not to take oaths in vain. The command is to let our word be true, so that we don't have to bolster it with appeals to other things. Everything we say should be sincere - and if we take an oath, we need to keep it.
James instructs us to speak the truth. Since we are saved, we should be different. It's too wasy to destroy our credibility as a Christian when we do not speak truthfully. The question for us is, 'are we consistent?'
God is watching what we say and do. We should always be forthright in telling the truth. God will discipline us for lying, but will reward us for faithfulness and sincerity.
