The Gospel According To John
Why Should You Care if Jesus is True?
John 7:25 - 26
10 October 2021
The world says that all religions are on the same path, and going to the same place. So why should we care if Jesus claimed to be the only truth?
We should care because of His divine origins. The crowds thought that because He came from a backwater town, they could ignore His message. Unbelief looks for an excuse not to believe, so they dismissed Him as being a poor Galilean. But Jesus has come from Heaven, and has knowledge of all things.
We should care because Jesus is the Christ. The Jewish leaders were offended when He claimed that they were sinners, and did not know God. There is no salvation for those who think they are righteous; only sinners who seek God's mercy, as did some in the crowd.
We should care because of the consequences of unbelief. The Pharisees wanted to suppress the truth, and sent officers to arrest Jesus. He was only in Israel for a short time before He returned to Heaven, and their opportunity to know God through Him was coming to an end. God's judgment will be upon those who reject Christ, but He is ever merciful to those who come to Him in faith.
