The Resurrection Brings Peace
John 20:19 - 23

We are created in the image of God and bear a conscience to remind us of the law of God. All have sinned and must answer for it, but Christ died and rose to free us from condemnation.

We see the backdrop of fear in John 20. The disciples were not expecting the resurrection, and had locked themselves inside a room because they feared the authorities. On the very day that Jesus defeated sin and death, they were afraid instead of celebrating.

We see the appearance of Jesus Himself. He appeared in the disciples' midst to speak words of peace and comfort to them. True peace is a real thing, and can only come through being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.

We see the Gospel of peace. Believers have a mission like Christ - to seek and save the lost. God is glorified when unbelievers come and bow the knee to Him, and so we continue Jesus' mission by proclaiming this gospel.
