Prayer for God’s Justice
David prays for God’s vindication. He is asking for God to do justice and be gracious to him (26:1,11). David says that he is fixated on God’s love for him and lives his life based on the God’s truth (26:3). He is confident that God will answer his prayer because of his life of faith & his life of integrity. Brethren, when you pray for God’s justice do you also demonstrate a hatred of sin in your own life? David lives his life according to God’s truth, and hates the gatherings of the wicked (26:4-5). Even more, the psalmist says he avoids hypocrites who conceal and pretend to be followers of God but live in disobedience to the truth (26:4). Saints, we must have clean hands before we go before God (26:6-7). God offers forgiveness to His children freely to those that humble themselves & confess their sin (1 John 1:9).
David also has a confident trust in God (26:7). He demonstrates his faith in his continual worship of the LORD. He loves the sanctuary (a place of refuge), and God’s glory among his people in the Tabernacle (26:8). Living for God means loving Him and His people. David knows that God will judge the wicked and asks the LORD t preserve him from harm (26:9-10).
Brethren, the key to our prayer for God’s vindication is a life of faith and obedience to His word. A knowledge of the truth and a life of integrity gives us the confidence to ask God for justice (26:12). Remember God knows how to rescue the righteous and will punish the wicked on the day of judgment (2 Peter 2:9).
