As parents, we can have a massive influence for good or evil on our children. Parenthood is stewardship - children belong to the Lord, and we guide them for His sake.

Influence through values that we set in our children. Our children will learn from the things we treasure most highly. Our wisdom influences them - and the beginning of true wisdom is the fear of the Lord.

Influence through goals. This means setting goals for our lives and families in order to grow. Children need gentle discipline and direction - even as we ourselves receive discipline and direction from the Lord.

Influence through priorities. We communicate what is important by what we set as priorities for ourselves. When parents live godly lives, the children see what it is to live well, and have the chance to follow the example.
