Our Lord's Triumphal Entry
Psalm 24
29 December 2024

Psalm 24 is the last of a trilogy of psalms about the cross, the crook, and the crown. They look back to the Ark being brought into Jerusalem, and also forward to the ascension of Jesus Christ.

The earth is the Lord's (v. 1 - 2). We see that the clay is accountable to the Potter. God is present on earth, as represented by the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament - He owns and watches over all. He rules in heaven, as proved by His ascension.

Who may stand in His holy place (v. 3 - 4)? Only someone with clean hands and a pure heart. Whether in David's or our day, nobody is faultless before God.

We see words of hope (v. 5 - 6), that God is our righteousness. He has taken our sin upon Himself by the cross, and given us His own righteousness.

We see the triumphal entry (v. 7 - 10). The Lord returns to His heavenly temple, to reign in righteousness over all.
