John is writing to show us belief in practice. Real belief in Christ is a submission of our hearts and minds to Him.

Discipleship is a commitment. God calls us to be patient, and we do not always receive what we hope for when we expect it. We have to trust that He has our best interests at heart while we wait - because He does.

In John 21, we see the disobedience of the disciples. Jesus told them to wait for Him at Galilee, but they grew impatient. They had left their profession of fishing to follow Jesus, but had lost heart after the crucifixion. Peter went back to fishing, and other disciples followed him.

We see the providence of God. They fished all night without a single catch as professional fishermen until Jesus came and filled their nets. They caught an immense number of large fish, and the net did not break. John saw the miracle, and recognized it could have only been Jesus.

We see the love of Christ. He called the disciples onshore, and prepared breakfast for them. He cares for the great matters, and the small things in our lives. He loves us enough to call us out of our sin, and He desires fellowship with us.
