God Alone...
How can believers remain calm during the tumults of life? The answer is found in Psalm 62. David says that he waits in silent confidence for God alone (62:1,5). In fact the word “alone” begins both 62:1-2 in the Hebrew. Trust in God alone gives confidence in troubled times. David continues and clarifies exactly what gives him this silent confidence in 62:2. He describes God’s unchanging nature as the basis for his confidence. Christ alone is the rock (1 Cor 10:4). Brethren, we can remain steadfast in our trials knowing that God is our stronghold that will never fail.
David also mentions that God alone is his salvation. David is a believer in YHWH and has an intimate fellowship with Him. It is only to those that are Christ’s that God promises salvation and protection. God is the one that protects and provides for His people. Believe that God is your rock, and your salvation, and trust in Him in every day of your life.
Believers who remaining calm and steadfast in troubles are an example to those around them (62:8). In living out his trust in God, David calls on all believers to trust in God alone (62:5-8). He instructs the faithful to pour out their hearts to the Lord. Brethren, our trust in God is expressed when we pour out our desires, wishes, hopes, and fears to the Lord honestly and openly. The wicked of this world vainly trust in their ill gotten gains as their “rock” (62:9-10). They take pride in themselves and their accomplishments, yet the wicked are but a “breath,” and will soon be gone (62:9).
Brethren, God is sovereign over every aspect of your life; and He exercises His power in love towards those who believe (62:11-12).
