Jesus is king of all, but everyone must decide whether they will believe and submit to this truth. In John 19, we see Pilate confronted with Jesus' claims about Himself.

We see the King's innocence. Pilate had Jesus brought to him, hearing that He was an insurrectionist. But he soon saw that Jesus was innocent, and that the Jewish leaders accused Him out of envy. Nonetheless, he had Jesus flogged to try to appease them.

We see the judgment of the King. Despite the obvious evidence, the Jewish leaders refused to believe that Jesus was the Son of God. They desired their positions above all, and had already decided to condemn Him.

We see the rejection of the King. Christ came to bring salvation, but the Jewish leaders would not accept that they were sinners and needed forgiveness. To submit to Christ is to believe His claims, and to seek salvation from Him. Jesus is King by right, but the question remains: will we believe and follow Him?
