The Suffering King, Part 3
John 19:8 - 15

Governmental authority comes from God, and He is the only one who delegates authority. As believers, we are to show honour to those who rule, and to the ultimate King - Jesus Christ.
We see the judgment of the King in John 19. Jesus is brought before Pilate and found innocent, but the Jewish leaders pressure Pilate to execute Him. Jesus proclaims His kingdom, but Pilate scorns the truth. He had enough truth to believe in Jesus, but did not.
We see the rejection of the King. Pilate tells Jesus that he is the one in power, but Jesus says that all authority is granted by God. Pilate eventually gives into pressure from the Jewish leaders, and puts an innocent man to death.
Both Pilate and the Jewish leaders had enough light to believe in Christ, but they refused. The same opportunity is offered us. May we trust in Him today.
